- Philosophy – Heraclitus: principle of order and knowledge, Sophists: discourse, Aristotle: reasoned discourse, Stoics: divine animating principle pervading the Universe
- Psychology – Carl Jung: contrasted a rational, decisive logos with an emotional mythos
- Christianity – the Word who created the universe and who was incarnated in the person of Jesus Christ (cf. John 1:1-15)
